Chest Wrinkles Or Cleavage Wrinkles
Cleavage wrinkles, much better known as chest wrinkles, are those that form on the upper portion of the breasts below the neck. They come on because of hours spent sleeping on the side. These hours spent sleeping on one side causes the weight of the upper breast as well as gravity to force the breast past the midline, forming deep vertical creases. These creases are even more obvious if one has had breast enlargements, as the weight of the breast is increased. Other things that can cause chest wrinkles are sports and push-up bras, which tend to force the breasts together to create the illusion of fuller, bigger breasts, while crinkling the skin between the breasts.
Once the collagen in the skin start to breakdown with exposure to the sun and with age, the chest wrinkles that appear will become deeper and more long lasting. Women with bigger breasts tend to be more affected due to gravity.
How are chest wrinkles treated? Most doctors will offer some form of skin care to try to plump out the skin so the wrinkles are lessened. These usually take the form of creams. Some patients try home remedies such as sleeping flat on the back, or putting a pillow between the breasts.
Some enterprising persons are marketing devices that are claimed to help treat breast or chest wrinkles.
Notable examples are the Kush Support which is a contoured plastic cylinder that helps keep the breasts apart at night, La Decollette which is like a sports bra worn backwards. The Chestsavers bra is a La Decollette type of bra. There is also the Intima Pillow which works like the Kush Support, and has straps that prevent it from falling off.
For the braver person with chest wrinkles, injection with Juvaderm (commonly known as Juvaderm) removes the wrinkles. These injections last about 1 year.
